The city of Sevastopol is located in the southwestern part of the Crimean Peninsula on Heracles peninsula. The territory of the city has rugged topography and irregular housing development.

Total area of the city is 1079 square kilometers, of them: 863 sq. km - land (12% of which is populated, 32,3 % - agricultural zone, 41,0 % - forests and mountains); 216 км² of general territory – water area of sea bays.

Altitude above sea level: from 0 to 100 m (average 50 m).

Climate of Sevastopol is close to subtropical climate of the Southern Coast of the Crimea.

Amount of precipitation (mm/year): atmospheric precipitation during the year is mostly even – from 280 to 400 mm/s.

Average monthly air temperature during the year is above zero. The coldest month is January (average temperature is +1.3 ºС), the warmest month is July (+23.2 ºС). Temperature of the surface layer of the Black sea waters by the coast of Sevastopol is always above zero and in July it is 22.2 ºС.

Quantity of sunny days a year: 300.

Water resources: on the territory of Sevastopol region there are 42 fresh-water bodies and 4 rivers.
